Golden Week was a huge success at SnowDog Village in Niseko for our guests and their furry friends where they enjoyed fantastic cuisine from the food truck Yuragi in a unique alfresco setting eating Kyoto style Bento food and their dogs loved the space to run in the countryside and woodlands.
Our boutique hotel is the only true dog-friendly hotel in Hokkaido and has contributed to our success over this year's Golden Week!
For Japans Golden week we were incredibly pleased and proud to achieve record occupancy. Guests and their dogs had a great time enjoying the food truck by Upashi Seta with tables fully booked throughout the week!
They also loved their walks in the countryside, with a few still managing to find some snow to ski higher up Annupuri Mountain!
All in all a great time was had by all and as a hotel, we were very happy as we were one of the highest performing hotels in the area which is great news for our owners and investors 😊
Summary:
👉Japans Golden Week runs from April 29 – May 8, 2022
👉Total of 64 bookings ranging from 1 – 5 nights, as compared to 33 for last years Golden Week
👉Guests were 80% Hokkaido residents and 20% from Honshu
👉100% were dog owners
👉Local government travel subsidies did not exist during this holiday week, so we achieved this occupancy with no assistance.
👉On the peak night of May 3 we had more than 90 guests and 39 dogs staying at SnowDog Village.
👉Golden Week in Niseko is not the ideal peak holiday week as it’s in-between seasons (still snow left with last spring skiing, but still early for the full green season activities). While many other properties did not achieve even half occupancy, SnowDog Village managed full occupancy on May 3.
👉The Food Truck event was well-received providing a lively environment for those who chose to either take out or dine in at our dog-friendly restaurant Upashi Seta. The restaurant tables were fully booked from May 3 – 5.
